Short Bio

Veronica De Pieri is Associate Professor in Japanese Studies at the Department of Languages, Literatures and Modern Cultures (Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna). Her interests have focused on testimonial narrative, trauma studies, and the pedagogy of memory since 2011, with a comparative perspective on disasters and mass violence (Holocaust, atomic bombings, nuclear accidents). She has also been trained in assessment and intervention in traumatic situations (Second-level Professional Master's Programme). She is currently working on disaster preparedness education (bōsai kyōiku) and peace-building education (heiwa kyōiku). De Pieri is also an Italian translator of literary testimonies related to atomic bombings and the Fukushima nuclear disaster.
