Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student willknow health and safety disciplineat work. Hewill beable tounderstandin an autonomous way prevention standards at the workplace and applythem to the caseswith proper terminology.
Course contents
The course has a monographic content and allows students to acquire the essential knowledge in the field of Health and Safety and well-being at workplace, particularly with regard to the prevention perspective and integrated management of risks.
Lessons program covers the following topics:
MODULE N. 1
General lines of the health and safety regulatory system:
- European legislation and harmonization principle in health and safety at work. European Framework Directive of 1989 and the sectoral directives.
- Characteristics and evolution of the Italian legal system relating to the protection health and safety at workplace. D. lgs. n. 81/2008 and subsequent amendments: Scope, actors, organizational structures of prevention.
- Participation of workers and trade union representatives.
- Health and Safety in flexible labour relationship.
- Emerging risks in outsourcing.
- Public inspection and control in Health and Safety at workplace.
MODULE N. 2
Risk Assessment:
- New and emerging risks at work.
- Climate change and new risk
- Impact of gender differences in occupational risks.
- The European principle of precaution.
- The risks from "unknown technology".
- The risks at the Workplace from AI.

Considering the constant evolution of health and safety legislation, it is recommended the direct consultation of d. lgs. n. 81/2008, available online.

Teaching methods
The frontal lessons are supplemented by the Focus Group activity on some cases of risks assessment.
Students can optionally participate in the Focus Groups, coordinated by a tutor, for further study and final discussion on the cases examined.
Assessment methods
A written test, related to Teaching module 1, allows to access the final and oral exam related to Teaching Module 2.
Classes are held in the first half-year and therefore the attending students can take the exam starting from the month of January.
Teaching tools
The course makes use of the University e-learning platform Virtuale for the delivery of interactive teaching, integrative activities and to make available any bibliographic additions (v. sub Teaching methods).
