-
from Sep 25, 2025 to Jan 29, 2026
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the students will be able to apply knowledge and comprehension about the disease of the periferical nervous system (PNS) as well as degenerative disease of the first and second motor neuron that could have indications for a physical therapy treatment. The students will be able to evaluate the neurological disease and formulate rehabilitative hypotesis, then plan an intervention of physical therapy

Teaching methods
The course will include theoretical lectures and practical workshops aimed at providing students with the tools to carry out a physiotherapeutic assessment of peripheral nervous system (PNS) disorders and to design an appropriate treatment plan.
"In view of the types of activities and teaching methods adopted, the frequency of this training activity requires all students of Modules 1 and 2 to be conducted in e-learning mode [https://www.unibo.it/it/servizi-e-opportunita/salute-e-assistenza/salute-e-safety/safety-and-health-in-the-workplace-training] and participation in Module 3 of specific training on safety and health in the workplace. Details on dates and frequency of Module 3 can be found in the appropriate section of the course website."
Assessment methods
Oral exam and practical component
The oral exam will assess the student’s understanding of the topics covered, with particular focus on clinical reasoning skills required for the physiotherapeutic management of peripheral nervous system (PNS) disorders.
Three questions will be asked, each covering one of the three main content areas. Each response will be graded on a scale from 0 to 10. The total score for this section will account for 70% of the final grade.
The practical exam will assess the student's ability to apply the clinical tests demonstrated during classroom practice. A score from 0 to 30 will be assigned, and this will account for 30% of the final grade.
Students with learning disorders and\or temporary or permanent disabilities: please, contact the office responsible (https://site.unibo.it/studenti-con-disabilita-e-dsa/en/for-students) [file:///C:/Users/paola.taddei/Desktop/estate%202024/CdL%20FISIO%20COORDINATORE/20.6.25%20e%20segg%20MAILguideweb/(https:/site.unibo.it/studenti-con-disabilita-e-dsa/en/for-students)] as soon as possible so that they can propose acceptable adjustments. The request for adaptation must be submitted in advance (15 days before the exam date) to the lecturer, who will assess the appropriateness of the adjustments, taking into account the teaching objectives
The grade for this course (worth 2 ECTS credits) will be weighted together with the grades of the other two courses within the same integrated module (each also worth 2 ECTS credits).
When calculating the final grade for Advanced Physiotherapy Methodologies, rounding up will be applied from 0.5 in each weighted average.
Honors (cum laude) will be awarded to students whose average exceeds 30. In this calculation, a grade of 30 with honors in an individual course will be counted as 31.
