Course contents

The clinical internship at the Pediatric Dentistry Department of the Dental Clinic is aimed at consolidating the student’s competencies, preparing them for the progressive autonomous management of pediatric patients. The training program is designed to refine, under supervision, technical, relational, and organizational skills, with a particular focus on communication with children and parents, as well as the customization of treatments according to the patient’s age and specific clinical needs.

During the internship, the student learns age-appropriate patient reception protocols, systematic and thorough anamnesis collection, and engages in direct clinical activities. They actively participate in oral hygiene education and motivation programs, caries prevention interventions, and the management and treatment of carious lesions and major enamel defects. The student also acquires essential knowledge regarding pain management in pediatric patients.

Finally, the student develops skills in interpreting radiographic examinations and is guided in the planning and management of periodic recalls, aimed at monitoring clinical progress and maintaining therapeutic outcomes.
