Learning outcomes

At the end of the seminar course the student will have knowledge regarding innovative technical aspects for the management of different crops.

The practical activities will be carried out at the University experimental farm of Cadriano and will allow the students to directly connect with the research activities carried out by teachers of the Course.

Course contents

The activities are concentrated in one or two "hands-on" days at the A.U.B. University experimental farm in Cadriano, Via Gandolfi 19, Cadriano di Granarolo Emilia, Bologna.

The students will be accompanied on a short but complete survey with the aim to convey a vision as much as complete and holistic as possible on the various experimental activities and innovative techniques that are tested / implemented at the Cadriano Company by the teachers and technicians of DISTAL.

The visit will follow the following sequence:

1) Opening with description of the agricultural company, operation and management (Prof. Nanni Costa)

2) Economic and estimative aspects in the management of the company (Prof. Viaggi)

3) Herbaceous crops, rotations, weeds, main diseases/phytophagous, agronomic management strategies, agroecological, defense, and genetic improvement (Prof. Bosi, Zanetti, Monti, Benvenuti, Maccaferri, Frascaroli, Salvi, Collina, Burgio)

4) Tree crops, trends and planting strategies, defense, varietal choice and management (Prof. Morandi, Manfrini, Benvenuti, Collina, Burgio, Salvi/Maccaferri, Frascaroli, Tartarini, Dondini)

5) Crop mechanization and main innovations (Prof. Vanda Rondelli)

Teaching methods

One or two full-immersion days at the A.U.B. University Farm  together with the Professors who will illustrate and follow the students during the path in the Company
