Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the student knows the method of Law & economics. In particular, the student is able to:
- analyse and evaluate the relations between the legal order and the economic behaviour;
- Apply the method of L & E to the study of public interventions in the economy at the Italian and European level;
- analyse case studies and provide for the most likely developments
- use legal databases
- draw up reports on case studies and the effects of new regulations or new economic behaviour.
Course contents
The course will analyse the general issues of Economy Public Law. In particular, the principles governing the state's intervention in the economy.
Specifically, the following subjects will be analysed:
State, sovereignty and supranational/international organisations.
Territory and sovereignty in the global economy
The relationship between State and European Union
Relations between the State and the economy: forms of State and market forms
The State's affirmation and its transformations
Sources of law in the Italian and European law
The Public Administration
The constitutional bodies (Parliament; Government, President of the Republic)
The territorial autonomy in the Constitution. The Regions and Local authorities
Rights and freedoms. The principle of equity and the freedoms in the Italian Constitution
Social and economic rights
The market in the Constitution and the new vision of the Italian economic constitution. Market regulation. Citizens' duties

Teaching methods
Frontal lectures with the support of PPT and bibliographical material, teamwork, case studies analysis.
Assessment methods
Written exam consisting in 4 open-ended questions on the entire programme.
Students are given 60 minutes to complete the exam.
The vote in the examination of Economy Public Law has validity for the academic year.
The evaluation will be carried out through the oral examination with 4 open questions.
18-23: the student has sufficient preparation and analytical skills, spread however, over just few topics taught in the course, the overall jargon is correct
24-27: the student has more than a sufficient preparation, but he/she shows some doubts over the topics. Good analytical skills with the use of a correct jargon
28-30: Deep knowledge about most of the topics taught in the course, good critical skills
30L: excellent knowledge of all the topics tackled during the course, as well as excellent usage of technical jargon
