Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student acquires knowledge related to the main texts and theories on pop cultures and contemporary media. Through a semiotic approach, students also acquire a critical skill opening to a critical understanding of the pop media formats (videos, advertisement, pop art and audiovisual texts in general) forms. He/she knows how to analyze these texts and to appraise their relevance, as well as their cultural role for fashion communication.
Course contents
The course first focuses on the definition of “pop culture”. Through a reading of trans-disciplinar examples such as art, design, graphic communication, fashion, space design (architecture and interiors) and brands, the processe through which trends and imaginary take shape in culture will be analysed and discussed.

The frontal lessons will introduce the main contents, give a critical reading of them tand suggest analytical skills and methodologies. Therefore a regular attendance of the course is highly recommended.
Assessment methods
The students will pass the final exam in a written form in the informatics laboratory. The test is constituted by a series of 15-20 multiple-choice regarding the contents of the whole program (cf. bibliography) and will take between the thirty and the forty minutes.
The already registered students unable to be present and pass the exam must cancel their name on the list on Almaesami at least two days before the fixed date.

The oral lessons will be supported by the multimedia material available in classrooms (computers, projectors, media-players).
