Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student will gain knowledge of the following topics. Learnings from the history of science. Theoretical foundations of creative thinking. Cognitive modelling. The DIMAI model. Strategies and processes for specific thinking stages. Innovation: hurdles and strategies for success. Application to study cases.

Frontal lectures and individual/group hands-on sessions.

Assessment methods

Assessment is based on a written test, to verify the achievement of the following educational goals:

- knowledge of the main theories on creative thinking

- knowledge of the mental states at the basis of the creative thinking process

- dexterity in the application of the learned strategies and methodologies for effective idea generation

The final written exam consists of :

- questions aimed at verifying theoretical aspects
- questions aimed at verifying the use of main creative thinking components
- practical exercises to test the use of strategies and methodologies in the creative thinking process
- divergent thinking tests, to verify the improvement in the idea generation fluency
