Lo studente dovrebbe disporre di adeguati strumenti lessicografici: un dizionario monolingue (per esempio Le nouveau Petit Robert. Dictionnaire de la langue française) e uno bilingue (per esempio Il Boch. Dizionario francese-italiano, italiano-francese, Bologna, Zanichelli) in versione cartacea o elettronica.

Teaching methods

The course will be developed primarily as a practice of translation, and will involve the translation of short texts by an individual or group work, as well as the discussion of the translation problems encountered and the translational and linguistic strategies used to deal with them.

Assessment methods

The verification will take place with different methods for attending and not attending students.

• Attending students will translate (alone or in group) from French a scientific paper of medium length and of anthropological subject, to be agreed with the teacher. They will be also required to write a short text in which the student will present his/her reflections on the translation activity.
• Students who do not attend the course will perform a practical translation exercice (3 hours), with monolingual dictionary.

Teaching tools

The texts to be translated will be made available to students on AMScampus, and will deal with topics close to the anthropological training of the students. In particular, we will focus on the early years of the Société d'Anthropologie de Paris and on the scientific production of the members of the society.
