Learning outcomes

 The course provides basic knowledge on general surgery and surgery of soft tissues in the main domestic animal species. For a good comprehension of the contents notions on anatomy and general pathology are necessary.

Course contents

The course contains the basics of general surgery (restraint, patient and surgeon preparation, sterilisation, instrumentation, operating room, equipment, incision, excision, hemostasis, suture, drains) and a special section with the surgical techniques of routine interventions on soft tissue (wound healing, abdominal, thoracic, urinary surgery, castration of male, treatment of hernias and other surgical pathologies) in horse, cattle, dog and cat.
