Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the student is able to use efficiently the current computational instruments for scientific computation. The lessons are mostly concerned with the treatment of modern mathematical problems and the aspects which are of importance for the design of algorithms are examined closely.
Course contents
Data and functions approximation. Fourier methods, basic formula
and theorems in Fourier analysis, FFT. Computation of eigenvalues
and eigenvectors, QR-algorithm, Singular Value Decomposition,
regularization methods based on SVD. Methods for Initial Value
Problems in Ordinary Differential Equation. Matlab toolboxes.
