27507 - Transport and Molecular Dynamics

Academic Year 2010/2011

  • Teaching Mode: In-person learning (entirely or partially)
  • Campus: Bologna
  • Corso: Second cycle degree programme (LM) in Chemistry (cod. 8029)

Learning outcomes

At the end of the module the student knows the chemical-physics principles governing tranport processes; has acquired the fundamental concepts of statistical thermodynamics, is familiar with the principles of molecular dynamics, he is able to understand and interpret transport phenomena also in terms of simulations.

Course contents

Phenomenology of transport processes. Principles of statistical thermodynamics. Principles of molecular dynamics, Monte Carlo and kinetic Monte Carlo simulations. Einstein and Green-Kubo generalized equations for the evaluation of transport properties.
