46102 - Mass Spectrometry Analysis

Academic Year 2008/2009

  • Docente: Enzo Spisni
  • Credits: 1
  • SSD: BIO/10
  • Language: Italian
  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures
  • Campus: Bologna
  • Corso: Second cycle degree programme (LS) in Molecular and Cellular Biology (cod. 0442)

Learning outcomes

Participants will be able to interpret the results of 2DE protein fractionation and of  MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry protein identifications. Applicative examples of proteome studies on animal cells, and biological fluids will be carried out. They will also gain additional insight into experimental planning as well as in available techniques.

Course contents

The course focuses on the principles of protein separation, fractionation and identification by using mass spectrometry and bioinformatics tools. The goal of this course is to teach fundamental principles and novel techniques in protein separation.
