Learning outcomes

The course try to focus on the meaning of punishment in modern societies, taking into consideration the evident and clear -but also the less evident and clear- functions of punishment. Particular attention will be paid to the condition of immigrant and the way they are punished in our societies when guilty for a crime (welfare and penitentiary policies).

Assessment methods

The examination is represented by an oral test on the whole program. Only for students attending the lessons of the teacher there will be a written test in the middle of the course and, at the end, an oral test.
