Course contents
Immunopathology: alterations of the immune response; classification of immunopathologies; type I hypersensitivity: allergies; Type II, III and IV hypersensitivities; tolerance breakage and autoimmunity; congenital and acquired immunodeficiencies, HIV and AIDS.
Immunology of transplants: transplants classifications: auto-, allo- and xeno-transplants; biological bases of transplant rejection; different types of rejection; GVHD; strategies aimed at preventing rejection: HLA typization, immunosuppressive therapies.

Assessment methods
The examination is in written form and consists of two parts: a first part of quiz of the type "true-or-false" and a second part consisting in a question with open answer over a theme of the program.
The second part can be in oral form on request.
Quiz are 105 divided in 21 topics discussed during the course. For each right answer: 3/10 points; each wrong answer: -1/10 points. No answer: 0 points. The open question can be evaluated up to 3 points. Total allotted points (part 1 + part 2) are 34.5. It is intended that laude is reached when the total score is over 31 points.
The time allotted for the exam is 1 and half hour.
