Abstract
Anaerobic digestion treatment of organic waste is a viable strategy to produce energy and the digestate (D) obtained can be used as an organic fertiliser to replace mineral fertilisers. Although the high agricultural value of digestate is known, the presence of possible pollutants such as microplastics (MP), antibiotics, pesticides and potentially toxic elements (PTE) is not as well known. The 3IMPACT project aims to assess the environmental impact of the agricultural application of D as an organic fertiliser through the characterisation of MP, antibiotics, pesticides and PTE and the interaction of these compounds in D of different origins and their impact on the soil.
