How the "open semester" will be delivered
In line with the new admission rules for Italian-taught Combined Bachelor's and Master's Degree Programmes in Medicine and Surgery, Dentistry, and Veterinary Medicine for the 2025/26 academic year – as established by Law no. 26 of 14 March 2025 and Ministerial Decree no. 418 of 30 May 2025 – the University of Bologna will deliver all educational activities of the "open semester" exclusively online.
These activities, held in Italian, will take place in September, October and November 2025. Attendance will be compulsory. Students enrolled in the “open semester” must therefore have a personal device to attend the online classes and ensure their attendance is tracked.

Enrolment in the "open semester"
You must register on the Universitaly website and then also at the university you selected on Universitaly as your host institution for the "open semester".
1. Register on the Universitaly website by 25 July 2025 at 5:00 PM (CEST).
2. Register at the University of Bologna by 31 July 2025 at 5:00 PM (CEST) if you selected it as your host institution for the "open semester". To register, go to Studenti Online (click on "Admission application"). Your registration will only be finalised after the payment of a fixed fee, which must be made via the PagoPA platform.
Fixed fee and exemptions
A fixed fee of €250 is required to enrol in the "open semester".
Full exemption from the fixed fee
You are fully exempt from the fixed fee if:
- Your family’s 2025 ISEE (Equivalent Economic Situation Indicator) is equal to or below €22,000.
To obtain the exemption, you must submit your 2025 ISEE or other financial documentation via the platform managed by ER.GO – Regional Authority for the Right to Higher Education by 30 October 2025 at 6:00 PM (CEST). - You have a disability certification with a recognised invalidity of over 66%, or a certificate issued under Law 104/1992.
To obtain the exemption, send your certification by 30 October 2025 at 6:00 PM (CEST) to the Student Services Office for Students with Disabilities and Specific Learning Disabilities (submission address to be provided soon).
Students eligible for a full exemption will receive a refund in the following months.
Partial exemption from the fixed fee
Students whose 2025 ISEE falls between €22,000.01 and €30,000 are eligible for a partial exemption, according to the following scale:
