Mission
The division’s mission is to ensure legal oversight for the management of the careers of teaching and research staff, research fellows and adjunct professors, together with the careers of professional staff under contract, language expert assistants and lectors, whilst ensuring career development in accordance with current legislation. The division also supports the General Management Office in defining the macro-organisational entity and the responsibilities attributed to first-level units, while managing relations with trade unions operating at the University and providing managerial and technical/specialist support to the Public Administration Delegation in the context of the various forms of trade union participation.
Main activities
- Planning the staffing needs for professional staff and for language assistants, and supporting the process of planning three-year teaching and research staff needs, in collaboration with the division responsible for finance and coordinated by the General Management Office.
- Managing recruitment and selection procedures for professional and managerial staff and other professionals with flexible employment relationships, as well as the administrative tasks related to recruitment procedures for teaching and research staff.
- Overseeing tasks related to the legal status of teaching and research staff, including employment relationships with fixed-term researchers, and the legal and administrative aspects relating to the employment relationship of professional and managerial staff, research fellows, lectors and language assistants.
- Supporting the performance assessment process for teaching staff for purposes related to career management.
- Managing authorisation procedures for professional and managerial staff to undertake outside work, together with related monitoring and communication to the Department of Public Function.
- Overseeing mobility procedures for teaching and research staff - both incoming and outgoing - and between the University's schools and departments and internal mobility and incoming and outgoing mobility procedures for professional staff, as well as relations with the external bodies involved.
- Overseeing the affiliation of teaching and research staff to departments and procedures for transfer to a different academic discipline.
- Managing the provision of meal vouchers to managers, permanent and fixed-term professional staff and language expert assistants.
- Managing services relating to social security matters for professional, teaching and research staff and language assistants in liaison with INPS.
- Overseeing processes relating to staff enhancement through the planning, design, organisation and recognition of training initiatives for professional and teaching or research staff.
- Managing the professional and career development system, with particular reference to the organisational assessment of different professional roles, supervisory positions and work performance of professional staff.
- Supporting organisational analysis projects and diagnostic assessments for professional staff.
- Supporting organisational change by providing consultancy and coordination, as well as establishing and promoting organisational standards to support the development of the University's administrative, service, teaching and research organisational entities.
- Overseeing the coordination of all activities aimed at providing social welfare and assistance benefits.
- Managing and developing flexible working arrangements for professional staff.
- Managing relations with trade union organisations operating at the University and providing managerial and technical/specialist support to the Public Administration Delegation in the context of the various forms of trade union participation.
