Mission
The division’s mission is to enhance the social, economic and cultural impact of the University of Bologna on its local area by developing and managing targeted entrepreneurship initiatives and relations with the industrial sector, public engagement activities, social innovation, and international cooperation and development, including the promotion of high-impact scientific outreach and fundraising initiatives.
Main activities
- Managing and protecting intellectual property by managing the University of Bologna's patent portfolio.
- Managing strategic relations with the industrial sector.
- Overseeing business creation and the accreditation of start-ups and spin-offs.
- Liaising with in-house company Be-Hold on academic entrepreneurship strategies.
- Overseeing the establishment or joining of third-party entities such as consortia, companies, associations, non-testamentary foundations, and inter-university centres; managing appointments and renewals of University representatives in such entities; handling statutory amendments; acquiring documentation required for monitoring participation relationships (University representatives' reports, financial statements, etc.); collaborating with other units, divisions and organisational entities responsible for contractual relations with entities in which the University holds an interest; ensuring compliance with regulations governing affiliated entities.
- Managing relations with the Emilia-Romagna High Technology Network and the administration office of the Interdepartmental Industrial Research Centres (CIRI).
- Managing placement services, open innovation, and career services.
- Designing and managing social innovation and public value initiatives.
- Creating and delivering original formats and content, including digital, for the enhancement and dissemination of the results of research.
- Managing Third Mission calls.
- Managing co-designed training courses with external companies and organisations, and postgraduate studies (excluding Master's programmes), including student career management activities.
- Managing curricular and extracurricular internships.
- Overseeing the Alumni project.
- Overseeing the University's cooperation and development activities.
- Promoting and coordinating fundraising initiatives.
- Supporting organisational entities in participating in ongoing tenders and entering commissioned research contracts.
- Overseeing the third pillar of Horizon Europe by supporting research groups and organisational entities in project design, implementation and audit.
- Managing the University's participation in Knowledge Innovation Centres (KIC).
