Mission

The division’s mission is to design, implement, manage, and oversee the University’s IT services, acting as a cross-functional point of reference and coordination for multiple organisational entities and services regarding network and systems infrastructure, applications, and support services. The division also oversees IT support services for the Bologna campus facilities and manages the University’s document flows, electronic records, and archives.

Main activities

  • Managing and developing the "Almanet" University network and ensure its integration with the Lepida regional network, also by signing agreements to outline operational and technical collaboration procedures.
  • Designing and implementing local area networks (LAN) and the University wireless network (ALMAWIFI).
  • Managing central server systems (primary site, secondary site for business continuity, and disaster recovery services).
  • Purchasing and managing workstations for the General Administration, also through outsourcing.
  • Managing landline and mobile telephone services.
  • Managing and developing the single authentication system (University directory service) and identity management services.
  • Managing the official email system for staff and students.
  • Analysing, designing, and maintaining software applications and related databases to support teaching, research, human resources management, and procurement and accounting processes.
  • Integrating IT systems.
  • Managing the technological platform and software development for the University portal.
  • Managing the University’s digital learning and MOOC infrastructure to ensure integration with IT systems.
  • Managing web conference platforms and producing multimedia products for digital learning.
  • Managing the technological platform and applications of the University Language Centre (CLA) to ensure integration with IT systems.
  • Managing the library systems’ technological platforms.
  • Supporting process dematerialisation and the use of the digital signature.
  • Re-engineering processes and managing the related computerisation projects.
  • Overseeing IT security, also through specific projects within individual organisational entities.
  • Providing IT support services to Bologna campus facilities by extending the direct management of professional staff with general IT skills.
  • Providing assistance for the services delivered.
  • Providing assistance to students, teaching and professional staff on software applications to support teaching.
  • Managing document flows, electronic records and archives, also through the use of IT and communication technologies.
  • Managing the supply of audio-video systems for general administration spaces.
  • Managing the maintenance and repair service for University-owned audio-video equipment.
