The document establishes our collective commitment to building a university in which accountability and transparency underpin every action and in which relationships are oriented towards valuing diversity and preventing all forms of abuse or discrimination.
Founding principles
- Integrity and accountability: acting with fairness and transparency, taking responsibility for one's actions.
- Respect and inclusion: enhancing differences, ensuring equality and combating stereotypes and discrimination.
- Prevention of corruption: strengthening the culture of ethics to protect the institution and its educational mission.
A document for everyone
The Code is addressed to our entire community: teaching and research staff, managers, professional staff, language trainers and experts, the student community, people who cooperate and establish relationships with the University. It guides everyday behaviour, integrating national regulations and making explicit everyone's commitment to creating a fair and respectful environment.
The meaning of the Code
The Code of Ethics and Conduct represents our desire to create a place where each individual's actions contribute to collective well-being. It is not just a set of norms and rules, but a tool for sharing and living the values that make the University of Bologna a benchmark not only for education, but also for respect and social responsibility.
The University's new Code of Ethics and Conduct has been in force since 1 April 2024.
Obligations of conduct for people working with the University
The rules in Chapter II, Section II (which supplement and specify Presidential Decree 62/2013 et seq.) define the obligations of conduct related to service activities. They also apply, mutatis mutandis, to collaborators and consultants of the University.
The obligations of conduct approved by the Board of Governors apply to the collaborators of bodies carrying out works or suppliers of goods and services to the University.
