High School for Legal Studies
The High School for Legal Studies came into being by rectoral decree on 12 August 2004, hosted by the Bologna Faculty of Law. It took over from the Institute for Forensic Application, some of whose functions it inherited whilst adding new ones and keeping the premises in via Belmeloro 12. It was thus born with the role of a higher professional and scientific/cultural school.
Its chief functions are:
- to promote and organize top-level catch-up courses and seminars for people working in the legal area (judges, lawyers, notaries, public officials), involving agreements with the judiciary, the legal profession and public administration in its various branches and organizations;
- to run seminars, lectures and scientific meetings especially targeting young Italian and non-Italian scholars of law, and to coordinate forms of international cooperation among Cultural Institutions in the area of justice;
- to promote and organize intensive and master’s courses on major legal and trial law issues with particular reference to constitutional, civil, criminal and administrative law, as well as the organization of the legal world on the brink of going telematic;
- to coordinate PhD students organized by or belonging to the Bologna University School of Law ;
- to promote and organize public lectures (Lectiones Magistrales) serving to supplement high-level diploma and master’s curricula.
