EIT Raw Materials

EIT Raw Materials is the largest consortium in the raw materials sector worldwide.

The mission of EIT Raw Materials  is to enable sustainable competitiveness of the European minerals, metals and materials sector along the value chain by driving innovation, education and entrepreneurship. This is realised by integrating knowledge from industry, higher education and research by engaging stakeholders from the entire raw materials value chain: from exploration, mining and raw materials processing to substitution, recycling and circular economy.

Eit Labelled Raw Materials Education

EIT Raw Materials Academy offers EIT-labelled two-year Masters’ programmes delivering a combination of scientific knowledge and entrepreneurship and innovation skills and enabling international collaboration within the world’s largest consortium in the raw materials sector. Graduates from EIT-Labelled programmes are awarded a degree from one or more of the participating universities, with an EIT Label Certificate confirming graduation from an EIT-Labelled programme.

Since A.Y. 2019/2020 the University of Bologna offers a two-year Master’s Degree in “Raw materials exploration and sustainability” (RaMES) with the support of EIT Raw Materials Academy, developed in partnership with the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and the Geological Survey of Finland (GTK).  The Master’s Program brings together cutting-edge expertise on raw materials and circular economy principles.

The objective of RaMES is to educate a new generation of entrepreneurially oriented geologists and engineers who have in depth expertise on the physical-chemical properties of raw materials, their geological exploration, and are particularly sensitive to best practices in sustainable exploitation.
