Admission requirements and assessment of previously acquired knowledge/competences

Admission to the degree programme in Legal Consultants in business and public administration, requires possession of a secondary school diploma awarded after five years of study or a foreign qualification recognised as suitable. Additionally, knowledge and competence in the following areas are required: - Good general education- Logic and reasoning abilities- Ability to understand and interpret texts and documents (in Italian)- Knowledge of basic legal concepts- Knowledge of a European Union language at A2 level as a minimumThe methods for verifying the knowledge required for admission are defined in the section on method of admission.If the results of the test are not positive, additional learning requirements will be specified. Programme profile

The purpose of this degree programme for Legal Consultants in business and public administration is to give graduates a solid legal-cultural foundation, equipping them to understand future regulatory changes with specific knowledge of the main legal sectors. In particular, graduates have a basic knowledge of macro and micro economics, enabling them to understand the structure of markets and their players. They also have competence in the areas of employment and trade union law, as well as welfare, social security and pension law. Additionally, graduates have a knowledge of how public administrations are organised and how personal businesses and partnerships are governed. On completion of the curriculum, graduates know the legal requirements that govern communication and disclosure processes and can apply them in specific organisational or business contexts; they can read financial statements; they are able to understand and prepare contractual documents, including those for international use; they can apply the regulations governing transportation and tourism in specific cases, especially negotiations in these sectors, and they are also able to consult legal databases independently and use IT equipment.The training covers five principal areas of learning: - PRIVATE LAW, relating to knowledge of the fundamental institutions of private law at national and supranational level, as well as the principal components of and most significant legal problems in the following areas of law: contracts, bankruptcy, transportation, intellectual property, agriculture.- PUBLIC LAW, relating to knowledge of the legal framework of government (structure and functioning of powers, substantive and procedural rules imposed on operators by the governmental authority in order to keep the framework whole and effective at national and supranational level); administrative organisation at central and local levels; the functioning of administrative action and the institutions of administrative justice at national and supranational level; the institutions of the European Union, their responsibilities, their deeds and their effect on Italian law; the principal components of and most significant legal problems in the following areas of law: constitutional, regional, urban planning, supply contracts, environmental, tourism, criminal proceedings.- EMPLOYMENT LAW, relating to knowledge of the rules governing individual employment relationships; trade union law and the roles of the social partners within the framework; legal mechanisms for the functioning of the job market; regulations governing occupational health and safety; components of social security and pension systems, including administration of the related requirements; relations with the supervisory bodies for employment, social security and pension-related activities, including knowledge of the procedures for levying administrative and criminal penalties.- ECONOMIC-FINANCIAL-ADMINISTRATIVE LAW, relating to legal knowledge of company law, the financial markets and credit instruments; the substantive, procedural and litigation dimensions of the taxation framework; the fiscal implications of company formation, management and liquidation matters; the fundamentals of economic policy and the problems associated with the development of local economic systems; public funding and the management of public finances; links between economic-financial and commercial matters and constitutional, administrative and social security laws and accounting matters; various issues that arise in the planning, management, organisation and execution of business strategies; the economic-institutional mechanisms underlying the creation of businesses; identification, with reference to case studies, of the principal factors that lead to the choice of organisational structure, strategies and operating decisions.- LEGAL METHODOLOGY, relating to broad knowledge of, on the one hand, the principal legal sectors (including a sound cultural-methodological preparation in order to understand regulatory changes), the origin and development of legislation in its historical context and the comparative method, as a fundamental way to refine knowledge about the origins of and reasons for the existence of the principal legal institutions; and, on the other, the linguistic and IT knowledge required by the regulations.The degree programme also envisages the activation of supplementary course units aimed at broadening the basic preparation and providing the necessary skills in specific areas and sectors, so as to complete the professional training of graduates. The necessary connection between academic preparation and vocational training is guaranteed by structured relationships with professional and productive entities. In fact, curricular internships are planned in public and private institutions and bodies in order to provide students with the working tools required to respond to the demands of the world of work.A significant part of the analysis and processing of knowledge is founded on personal study by the student, requiring further processing of the information obtained and leading to greater understanding. Achievement of the ability to apply knowledge and understanding is verified by oral and written exams, as well as by the assessment of individual papers, the presentation of mini-dissertations and group discussion of problems, enabling the student to demonstrate confident use of the tools and methodologies provided during the degree programme.
