Applicants must also possess the following knowledge: logical reasoning and oral comprehension skills; solid knowledge of the fundamental notions of mathematics and sciences.
Applicants shall demonstrate knowledge of the English language to level B1.
The degree programme has restricted access, according to the available resources. The number of places and selection methods are published annually in the relative call for applications. Admission to the degree programme with restricted access is subject to demonstration of the required knowledge and skills, by passing the entrance exam with the minimum score indicated in the call for applications.
Students accepted to the programme obtaining less than the minimum score in the entrance exam will be assigned additional learning requirements (OFA). The OFA must be completed in the first year of the programme and in any case in the terms set by the University.
Students not completing the additional learning requirements in the set terms must enrol in the following academic year as repeating students, and shall repeat the procedure laid down for passing the OFA.

Programme profile

This degree programme in Biotechnology isoffered by the Department of Pharmacy and Biotechnology within the School ofPharmacy, Biotechnology and Sport Science, with contributions from a further 11 University Departments. The resulting inter-disciplinary course structurediagram enables students to study all disciplines of the various biotechnologyapplications (red, green, white biotechnologies etc.), as well as umbrelladisciplines.

The objectives of the learning plan are to:a) train graduates who are able to continue their University studies in aprofitable and effective manner; b) train professionals able to apply, in athinking manner, the biotechnological methodologies envisaged by currentItalian and EU regulations.

This restricted access degree programmewith entrance test ensures that the selected students have the individuallaboratory space needed to follow experimental protocols on their own. Thelaboratory facilities available to the degree programme were designed to satisfythis criterion, being a fundamental element in the provision of a high-levelprogramme catalogue that meets market requirements. Laboratory work is a keypart of the programme catalogue, as is the mandatory curricular internship. This internship may be carried out within University structures or externally,in accordance with the rules established by the University. Mandatoryinternships are an important element of the programme catalogue, as they enablestudents to understand specific techniques better and experience the world ofbusiness or biotechnology laboratories for the first time.

The first year of study covers basicdisciplines as preparation for those that are more specificallybiotechnological in nature; the second year addresses the basic fundamentals ofbiotechnology, while the basics covered in the third year look at specificbiotechnological applications and contexts.
