Learning outcomes

The workshop aims to offer students the sociological categories and tools useful to understand and analyze the phenomenon of corporate welfare and corporate social responsibility.
Using a multistakeholders approach. Corporate welfare will be investigated as a social innovation of product and process that includes business experiences shared between a variety of actors with the aim of increasing the welfare and the attractiveness of the territories.

Course contents

The workshop aims to introduce students to the concepf of corporate social responsibility, with particular reference to its internal dimension: the corporate welfare.

During the first part of the workshop, the theme of corporate social responsibility will be addressed (definitions, areas of intervention, tools) with reference to the national and international scientific debate.


In the second part, cultures and practices related to corporate welfare experiences of organizations from different sectors, sizes and territories will be analyzed.

Students will be involved in the presentation and analysis of case studies and will be involved in two simulations: the construction of a corporate welfare plan and the construction of a territorial corporate welfare plan.

Teaching methods

The workshop includes a first part of lectures conducted in a frontal manner by the teacher to introduce the basic concepts and develops

Seminars with classroom discussion.

Presentations of in-depth work by the students.

Simulations.

Starting from the students' interest, a research work in the field can be carried out in order to identify best practices on the topic of corporate welfare.

Assessment methods

The final exam will consist of an oral interview in which the knowledge of the concepts related to corporate social responsibility and corporate welfare will be verified and then move on to the presentation and discussion with the teacher of the in-depth study carried out during the workshop.

Teaching tools

During the workshop, students will be provided with supplementary teaching materials (texts, foreign essays, research reports) aimed at deepening specific aspects of the course.
