Learning outcomes

The course aims to develop for the student:

- knowledge about theoretical framework and the main pedagogical directions applied to educational practice;

- knowledge of the different beficiants;

- capacities of applying the knowledge acquired in the design of educational and training processes aimed to including social distress;

- skills on promoting training and updating activities aimed to community educators;

- skills on design of prevention interventions;

- skills on coordinating work of social educators and social workers;

- communication skills both in the relationship with the individual subject in education and in the relationship with groups of subjects in education;

- abilities on identify suitable tools and training courses that are functional to the development of his personal and professional growth.

Course contents

The course includes a general and introductory part about the pedagogy of marginality and deviance, which aims to enlight the theoretical paradigms and the main methodological orientations.

Besides, a second part dedicated to the analysis of specific contexts, with the aim of highlighting their peculiarities and dimensions of specific competence in a pedagogical view.

In the general part, there will be deveoped concepts such as:

- "difference" and "diversity";

- "integration" and "inclusion";

- "complexity", "pedagogical problematicism" and "empowerment" approaches;

- community development and anthropological-cultural competence and capacity on relationships caring.

The specific topics that will be deepened are:

- adolescence pedagogy,

- pedagogical skills on migrantion context,

- prejudice and discrimination,

- educational work in contexts of social vulnerability,

- network in the early school leaving coping,

- community development.

Teaching methods

Lessons, seminars with experts and study of documents and other sources.

Assessment methods

The exam will be written or oral considering the number of students enrolled. For the academic year 2019/2020, 2020/2021 and 2021/2022, attending students will prepare a report on the choosen text of 4000-6000 characters to be sent by email to the teacher at least 3 days before the exam.
