Learning outcomes

The purpose of the course unit is to enable students to acquire advanced conceptual understanding of the civil law issues in Eastern Europe, to critically assess current legislation in the context of European legal traditions, to be able to analyze the latest private law issues and trends and to propose effective solutions related to the exploitation and enforcement of the Procedural law.

Course contents

The Seminar will be taught by Prof. Anatoliy V. Kostruba, a visiting professor from Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University (Ukraine).

12 October 2022, 15.00 – 17.00: Standart of justice in Ukraine: reform of judicial system 2014-2022

19 October 2022, 15.00 – 17.00: Protocol no. 16 to the Convention for the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms: directions of improvement of the procedural legislation

26 October 2022, 15.00 – 17.00: International standards in the field of justice in motivating court decisions in commercial and civil proceedings

2 November 2022, 15.00- 17.00: Ensuring the right to judicial protection in the conditions of the introduction of quarantine

9 November 2022, 15.00- 17.00: Implementation of Recommendation No. R(2000) 2 of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe on the reexamination or renewal of proceedings in civil and commercial cases after the decision of the ECHR time
