Learning outcomes

By the end of the laboratory the student: knows the basic processes and techniques related to the creation, writing, production, packaging and distribution of film and tv products; knows how to place film and tv production within the broader context of the creation of contents for media and cultural industries; is able to contribute autonomously to the creation of an audiovisual product.

Course contents


The 30-hour workshop will take place in Laboratory 2 (computer room) with access from via Zamboni 34

Starting from January 30, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 1pm to 3pm, until March 1

The course will provide comprehensive training on the world of audiovisuals and on the main methods of audiovisual production for the web and streaming platforms

In parallel with the theoretical introduction, with the help of the teacher you will be asked to design some multimedia products for the web and platforms, collectively or individually, which will be analyzed with the teacher and will constitute material for the exam.

The laboratory intends to enable the design and control of its aesthetic and technological aspects of the communicative artifacts that interact with everyday life, starting with multimedia communication and the design and creation of digital products for web and streaming platforms.

The following topics will be addressed during the course:

• basic notions of digital image, audio and video

• design and production of multimedia products for distribution on streaming and web platforms

• analysis of significant cases of multimedia production

• home entertainment

• development 'app'

• videogames

• usability and accessibility on the web

Teaching methods

The course includes a short theoretical introductory part and a practical laboratory part through a program of guided exercises.

The course includes lectures with the support of slides, audiovisuals, digital sources, shared materials. The course will also host meetings with experts in the sector, providing moments of vision and analysis of specific cases.

The laboratory part will see the work of designing digital products for web and streaming platforms.

Assessment methods

The final evaluation will derive in part from the realization of a multimedia project on freely chosen themes, which contains fundamental elements in the design such as the definition of objectives, targets, contents, navigation structure and technological aspects.

To be delivered not after the exam date. The project constitutes 50% of the overall evaluation of the exam.

The other 50% comes from a 15 question multiple-choice test on the two texts adopted.
