Course Timetable from Feb 22, 2023 to Jun 07, 2023
Academic Year 2022/2023
Course contents
The course program is composed of three sections:
- Introduction to: fundamentals of kinematics, laws of motion and optimal transmission ratio.
- Kinematic, dynamic and structural analysis of the main Automatic Machines mechanisms.
- Design of mechanical components used in automatic machines.
Readings/Bibliography
- Course slides
Luigi Biagiotti · Claudio Melchiorri, Trajectory Planning for Automatic Machines and Robots, Springer-Verlag, 2008 - David Myszka Machines & Mechanisms: Applied Kinematic Analysis, 2012
- Richard G. Budynas, J. Keith Nisbett, Shigley’s Mechanical Engineering Design, McGraw-Hill, 2011
Teaching methods
Teaching is organized according to the following phases:
1. Frontal teaching in the classroom on theoretical aspects.
2. Exercices on CAD drawing and numerical simulations in the computer lab.
3. Design, numerical simulation and drawing of a complex mechanism assigned to students' groups.
Assessment methods
Assessment by oral exam, during which the following topics will be discussed:
- Exercises collected in the notebook with applied theory.
- Technical report on the mechanism designed and developed by the students' group.
Teaching tools
- PowerPoint presentations for lectures.
- Creo Parametric CAD software for 3D drawing, kinematic, dynamic and structural analysis of mechanisms.
- Computer laboratory.
