Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the students will be able to identify the ethical dilemmas they may encounter in clinical practice and will know the principles of biomedical ethics.

Course contents

Introduction.

Moral dilemmas and practical dilemmas.

Ethical theories.

Principialism. Autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence and justice.

During the course, the teaching material will be provided and the presentations of the lessons will be available on Virtuale.

Teaching methods

Lectures and discussion of cases.

Assessment methods

The exam aims to evaluate the achievement of the didactic objectives: to be able to identify the ethical dilemmas that may arise in professional practice and to know the principles of biomedical ethics. In particular, students will be asked to present an ethical dilemma, chosen by the student, explaining which principles and rules are in conflict.
