Learning outcomes
At the end of the workshop the student: - is able to move autonomously in applying the specific techniques learned autonomously or within projects organized by the institutions; - can discuss with other subjects on the methods of use and documentation of the techniques learned; - can place the specific knowledge learned in different types of service; - can assess the limits and merits of the technical instruments learned; - can transfer the technologies learned in different contexts by making personal changes and additions.
Course contents
Roma and Sinti: cultures, research and educational actions
Contents
The workshop aims to deepen the historical and current knowledge of the synthetic and Roma communities living in Italy and to learn about the educational projects carried out in these contexts. In particular, the topics of the course are as follows:
Knowledge of the historical processes that have characterized the establishment of these cultural groups.
Knowledge of the typology of migration and settlement processes of Roma communities in Italy.
Analysis of the prejudices and stereotypes that have always accompanied these communities with a view to deconstructing them.
Analysis of research-intervention carried out in Italy.
Analysis of educational projects carried out with some schools and communities.
Case study: analysis of the training and professional path of some Italian Roma women.
The workshop takes place in the first semester of the academic year.

Teaching methods
The workshop is characterized by frontal lessons that alternate with individual and small group work, together with discussions in small and large groups.
Films will be used for the in-depth study of the above themes and for group work.
Assessment methods
It is required to prepare a report from some readings that will be given during the laboratory. The report can be done individually or in groups outside laboratory hours and will be discussed at the end of the course.
