Learning outcomes
At the end of the workshop the student will: - knows theories and operational tools for understanding gender roles; - is able to critically analyze factors determining gender roles; - knows how to interpreter gender categories and major concepts of contemporary feminist thought, placing them to the international context - deals with gender differences from a historical and pedagogical perspective.
Course contents
The workshop promote a critical reflection on gender differences. By proceeding with the deconstruction of the most common gender stereotypes, a more correct and aware education to genres and gender differences will be developed.
The workshop will focus on:
1) the main theoretical approaches about gender differences and sex roles;
2) the gender in the Italian mass-media world;
3) the gender violence in the complex society.
The workshop is designed to get students acquainted with changes that have characterized the Italian context over the last century, as well as to develop critical skills in analyzing how we do and "undoing gender" in everyday life.
