Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student should know: the gene expression and its regulation, inheritance and gene susceptibility (in particular human gene related to performance and muscle strength); he/she will know about new technology and gene teraphy, gene doping and gene delivery used to enhance sports performance.

Moreover the student shoud aquire a scientific language and the concept of scientific method

Gene expression and regulation mechanisms

Mendelian and non-mendelian genetics

Genoma variability (SNPs)

Gene susceptibility and genes associated to sports performance

New technologies, gene therapy and gene doping

Other books will be suggested at the beginning of the course

Lessons and Journal Club (oral presentation of scientific papers)

Assessment methods

ATTENTION: due to Covid-19 medical emergency exams will be conducted remotely on Microsoft Teams, until further notice.

Written exam (multiple-choice and open questions)

The final evaluation will be based on both test and Journal Club results.
