Academic Year 2021/2022
Learning outcomes
The student acquires the elements of environmental and applied botany or the distribution, adaptive strategies, use of resources, relationships with the environment of living prokaryotes and photosynthetic eukaryotes and mushrooms; can use the different approaches of botany, phytogeography, plant ecology, aerobiology, applied plant biology and ecology
Course contents
The program aims to acquire basic scientific concepts of Environmental Botany, selected on the basis of their relevance in the context of the urban environment, both in open and confined environments. Among these, the awareness of the existence of a complex and ecosystemic nature, highlighted by the interdependence relationships between living beings and the chemical-physical environment; in addition, aerobiological knowledge and skills and study tools for aerobiological monitoring will be acquired.
In detail, the program will cover the following topics:
aerobiologia
Pollen
Allergenic plants
Urban green
Phytodepuration of air and water
Immunogenic vegetable reserve proteins: gluten
Notes on secondary metabolites
Revision of plant cytology with particular emphasis on the wall and vacuole
Prerequisites: knowledge of the topics covered in the chemistry and biology courses of the secondary school.
Readings/Bibliography
The teaching material used for the lessons, as well as articles, book chapters and other materials from the specialist literature will be provided during the course by the teacher and / or deposited on the Moodle platform.
Suggested reference texts:
- Interazioni Piante e ambiente, Ed PICCIN
- Botanica, Ed. Idelson Gnocchi
Any further references will be discussed with the students.
Teaching methods
Frontal and dialogue lessons supported by presentations (ppt) with diagrams and graphic illustrations.
Assessment methods
The learning verification takes place through the evaluation of a multi-response test. For those who pass it, there is a discussion on some topics with questions to ascertain the basic knowledge (as per the program). The reflexive and integration skills of knowledge themselves, the ability to organize and transmit knowledge will be assessed; critical reasoning skills.
Teaching tools
Classrooms equipped for teaching with: personal computer, projector, touch-screen with the role of a digital whiteboard, document camera for shooting texts, drawing objects, video cameras for shooting the teacher. Classrooms / laboratories (1 CFU / module) are connected to the teaching, equipped for carrying out practical activities.
