Learning outcomes

At the end of the module the student has the ability to understand blood coagulation mechanisms and related laboratory tests; is able to correctly interpret blood, liver and urinary lab tests values

Course contents

- The blood. Plasma, serum and cellular component; blood count with leukocyte formula; morphological aspects of the different corpuscular components.

- The laboratory in the evaluation of the haemostatic function. Laboratory investigations for the evaluation of primary and secondary haemostasis.

- The laboratory in the diagnostic evaluation of diabetes. Diabetes classification; metabolic changes in diabetes; laboratory tests for the diagnosis of diabetes and for the control of the diabetic patient.

- Laboratory tests for the study of renal functions. Urinalysis (chemical, physical and sediment)

Teaching methods

The course consists of 1 CFU of lectures, corresponding to 8 hours.

Assessment methods

Learning assessment takes place through a final exam that ascertains the acquisition of the expected knowledge by conducting an oral test. This test aims to evaluate the achievement of the didactic objectives.
