Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the students acquire specific knowledge on the interactions between animals and farming techniques in relation to animal welfare, productivity and the environment.

Course contents

Animals and GMO ingredients: history of GMOs, qualitative characteristics, use of GMOs in the world. European and national Organic Aquaculture: production characteristics for the production of fish, shellfish and algae, problems, examples of organic aquaculture at the national level breeding of alien species / alien: definition of alien species / non-native, methods of breeding, rearing scheme for the application of non-native species. Production chain.

Readings/Bibliography

The teaching method consists of lectures in which the various topics are presented in part explicitly by the teacher and partly introduced as a topic to be discussed together.

Students have to take a 15-to-20-min. oral examination, during which they are expected to answer two to three questions related to the program.
