Urban planning as an autonomous discipline, first theories and utopias in Europe

The Italian urban planning laws and their development since the XIX century.

The municipal urban plan as a privileged tool for planning and controlling of the urban expansion. Zoning and urban planning standards. Expropriation and rent

Urban and spatial analysis: methods and tools

The evolution of European and Italian regional planning.

The conservation of historical centers: policies and experiences.

Urban regeneration and redevelopment, in Europe and Italy.

Environmental protection and sustainability in urban and spatial planning

Landscape planning

The implementation of the urban plan: from detailed plans to building permits

new perspectives given by the regional laws on urban planning

the course will be divided into thematic modules which will be associated with an exercise activity linked to the topics covered

Teaching methods

in-depth seminars on key topics led by external experts
exercise activities on specific key topics, conducted by students in small groups. Periodic debate on the research carried out

registration to groups and assignment of the topic will take place at the beginning of the course by filling in the online form provided by the teacher

Assessment methods

oral exam on the topics touched during the lectures.

delivery of the research carried out on the assigned topic at least 1 week before taking the oral exam

the final grade will be assigned based on the outcome of the oral exam and the work done during the exercise

Teaching tools

slides with texts and audio and video material accompanying the lecture held by the teacher

all communications between the teacher and the students will take place mainly through the platform https://virtuale.unibo.it/, therefore it is necessary for the student to register at the beginning of the course
