Learning outcomes

For the future Expert in Social and Cultural Education is very important to know some key concepts of psychopathology: the definition of mental disorder, the concept of continuum normal - pathology as a 'thinking' of mental desease and historical - cultural relativism as basic paradigm to take into account symptomatic manifestations that changing over time and contexts. For the Expert is important to bring the view of psychopathology with other professionals to share a common language and interpretations and understanding of mental distress; the educator's task is not to diagnose but to recognize signs of psychological distress and approach to individual in the most suitable for his type of mental functioning. Knowing the psychopathology is important for improving educator's reading of the events of subjective history to understand the psychological reality of the other and to do educational activities based on personal characteristics, psychological, contextual individual experience.

Program

  1. Definition and classification of clinical psychology as a field application of research and intervention.
  2. Theoretical paradigm.
  3. The key topic to understand the psychopathology.
  4. The psychological problems in childhood.
  5. Adolescent mental health problems (use and substance abuse, eating disorders, self harm and attempted suicide, behavioral addictions).
  6. The main forms of mental disorder in adulthood.
  7. The Expert and the clinical interview in the helping relationship.
  8. The Expert the group and supervision work.
