Teaching methods

The student must know all the texts and all the works presented during the course; must then, choose three works from those present in the General Bibliography to take the exam.

The student has in-depth knowledge of the history and development of non-European literature in French, with particular attention to the relationship between literary texts and the historical, artistic and linguistic context. Knows how to use practical methodologies for the analysis and interpretation of the literary text.

The course aims to analyze the issues of diversity and inclusion in French-speaking migrant literatures with particular attention to Quebec, Lebanese and Senegalese literatures. After a first part dedicated to the study of the different literary, historical, cultural and linguistic contexts, the course will focus on the issues of diversity and inclusion with particular reference to the migrant scriptures and those born from exile. Voluntary or forced mobility, however, generates a literature with a dual focus: towards the country of origin and towards the country of adoption. The migrant scriptures, in a French-speaking context, give rise to a third space where the identity renegotiation that writing, a space for the elaboration of diversity in search of similarities, brings out. Among others, will be studied texts by Marco Micone, Antonio D'Alfonso, Fulvio Caccia, Amin Maalouf and Wajdi Mouawad.
