- the origin of the welfare state and the welfare state models;

- the new social risks;

- the social policies;

- the organisation of social services.

Teaching methods

Lectures, classroom discussions and e-learning (optional assignments, available from 5 November 2018 to 15 January 2019, https://iol.unibo.it/).

The three e-learning assignments include: the critical analysis of a scientific article; comments on table data; the discussion of a current topic.

Assessment methods

Written test with open-ended questions (4 questions; 3 for those doing the assignments available on line. 1 hour). The exam aims to verify the acquisition of the knowledge provided in the course programme.
