Learning outcomes

At the end of the course students will know the epistemological statute of General Pedagogy: the conceptual ties of the subject, its evolution, the interestes area and the related methods of resarch and intervention, its development, the main authors from tradition and from nowadays; students will be able to recognize and to analyse pedagocial emergencies in the current social and cultural context with a special attention to educational and family processes; they will be able to try to find out the items of the context those influence both the everyday social-work and the whole framework of the local educational services; they will be able to plan and to carry out educational pathes those could support an autonomous person-building of  families, minors, elderlies, disableds, convicts, foreigners – adressing to social services; they will improve and manage collaborations with other professionistes, particularly in order to face changes in the system-problem that involves the beneficiaries ( users, users' families, ecc); they will be able to build, into his work, an active listening context; they will be able to educate to empathy and to authentic relations; they will know the main methods for the conflict management in education – they will be able to think about the professional identity-building af social workers among: social negotians, cultural items, influences, historical phases, existencial levels, belonging, personal and collective clashes and experiences, family identity-shaping, etc.; - they will know the educational specificity of the professionist working in social and sanitary services, cultural services, leisure centers, sport;- they will anlyse and to use in a sistemic sight, the integrated formative system on a specific area (services, pubblic and private facilities, youth centers, libraries, daycare centers, museums, other cultural istitutions, environmental education services); - They will know the main aspects of the educational relationship.  They will able to enhance the establishing of emotional and cognitive processes into the decational relationship;- they will excercise critical functions and meta-reflections into the subject expertises and into the relationship's self-knowledge, even in a changeling context.

Course contents

The didactical path will be lead in a inductive way. Classes will start from a specific-case analysis, about experiences and practical issues of the professional profile of the social worker and then, step by step, students will find out the pedagocical framework, the heuristic path and the theoric reference able to direct the educational method and to define the professional statute of a "Social Educator".

Classes will be divided in four didactical modules

- during the first part some typical experinces into the social work will be shown

-  on the strenght of these spurs, some concectual categories that make the professional epistemology will come out, referring to students' achived skills. In a methodological sight the first aim consits of to spur the individual and the groups reflection, the meta-cognitive and the meta communicative practice, the partecipatory learning, especially the exsistential planning, possible, the commitment, differences, empathy, the exsistential central-role, maieutics, the consciuness, the active listening and any other issue. altre eventuali;

- then students will be involved in a group research activity, in order to develop further the contemporary emergencies analysis and their connections with the formative framework, in order to  highlight "the meaning" of the action of the educator, to draw his basic expertise,  

-   eventually the reference point of "The Pedagogical Problematicism" and of "The Overall Epistemology", will be used as ermeneutic device in order to deconstruct and to resettle the concept developped  already, in the main pedagocical framework and to find out the theorical basis.

Teaching methods

The course will be held on blended learning with classroom sessions as well as e-learnig lessons.

Assessment methods

The exam will be written and will consist of multiple close choice answers and open answers too.

Teaching tools

The course provides both classic lectures and workshops those boost students' active learning. Multimedia and textual analysis will be employed. Remarkable speakers will be hosted in order to  have a dialogue with students.
