Learning outcomes

At the end of the internship, the student has successfully attended the Pedodontics service and therefore has a preparation that allows to recognize, deal with and solve complex cases related to pedodontic problems.

Course contents

Doctor-Patient communication with the pediatric patient, patient and family management.

Clinical examination in Pediatric Dentistry.

Conservative therapy and endodontic treatment of permanent teeth with incompletely formed apex.

Soft tissue lesions in children.

Surgical procedures in the pediatric patient.

Pharmacologic therapy of oral pathologies in pediatric patients.

Bad habits.

The orthodontic-orthopedic anomalies in the mixed dentition: diagnosis, interception and therapy .

Space maintenance in the mixed dentition.

The promotion of oral health in children suffering from systemic diseases and debilitating conditions.

Teaching methods

Working groups on subjects identified by the students in agreement with the teacher, with the collaboration of the contract professor. Theoretical and practical exercises at the Dental Assistance Service for the disabled in the developmental age of DIBINEM

Assessment methods

Preliminary test at the entrance and test at the end of the course. Oral presentation of a bibliographic review on a pre-selected topic. Presentation of clinical simulation.
