32087 - Complements Of Mathematical Methods Of Physics

Academic Year 2017/2018

  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures
  • Campus: Bologna
  • Corso: First cycle degree programme (L) in Physics (cod. 8007)

Learning outcomes

The aim of the course is to let the student know of the complementary notions and mathematical methodologies useful for an understanding of modern theoretical physics. The student will be able to use unrestricted operators in a Hilbert space and to deal with problems with generalized functions.

Course contents

The course will treat the following topics:

1) convolutions;

2) review of distributions theory;

3) Fourier transforms of functions and distributions;

4) basics of differential geometries;

5) bounded and unbounded operators;

6) theory of propagators.

Readings/Bibliography

Teacher's notes will be made available at the time the course starts.
