Associate professor in theoretical physics of the University of Bologna, my research focuses on fundamental aspects of the gravitational interaction and quantum aspects of the gravitational collapse and black hole formation and evolution (original approaches to these issues are the
horizon quantum mechanics and the
bootstrapped Newtonian gravity). I am also interested in cosmology and alternative theories of gravity to describe the quantum state of the Universe, Dark Energy, the
bounce and Dark Matter phenomenology.
