PSYCHOLOGIST OF WORK, ORGANIZATIONS AND HUMAN RESOURCES
(internship of 12 months is completed, andprovided the state exam required to practise the profession is passed andsubject to enrolment with the professional register)
ROLE IN A WORK CONTEXT:
(S)he carries out several professionalactivities, which can be simplified into the following four main areas ofactivity:
1. WORK(s)he analyses occupationalcircumstances, tasks, jobs, employment roles, communicative tools, socialandtechnical environments that are safe, efficient and consistent, with respectto the workers' requirements, to the dynamics present in the work groups and tothe production objectives of the occupational system.
2. PERSONNEL(s)he plans, manages andcoordinates interventions of a guidance, recruitment, informative, training andconsulting nature, aimed at professional qualification, career advancement andorganisational changes, implemented while taking into account theabilities-competences of each individual worker, the composition of the workgroups and the particular organisational and social constraints of thecommunity.
3. ORGANIZATIONAL(s)e plans and managesinterventions to improve the organisational quality of life, with particularfocus on: the functioning of work groups and the different types of leadership;interaction between peers and of a hierarchical nature; the internalcommunication processes; occupational safety, occupational accident and injuryprevention (with particular reference to human error genesis mechanisms);stress management; the various forms of internal and external communication(with individual and collective users); productive management of interpersonaland social conflicts; introducing "helplines" to safeguard personaldignity (where envisaged by corporate codes of conduct); decision-makingprocesses and other similar areas.
4. METHODOLOGY- (s)he plans and appliesqualitative and quantitative tools (for self-and hetero-evaluation) to measurethe variables and psycho-social processes and for the assessment of individualcharacteristics;- (s)he plans, manages and coordinates research aimed atidentifying the critical issues tied to social and technological changes inwork activities and organisational processes;- (s)he provides consulting andcollaborates with experts from other disciplinary backgrounds (particularlyfrom the biomedical, polytechnic and social areas), involved in interventionprojects on organisations (for instance, in training, in assessing thestructural and functional quality of the occupational system, etc.).
COMEPTENCIESASSOCIATED WITH THE ROLE:
The competencesrelating to the professional figure have over recent years been defined jointlyby the reference European association (namely, EAWOP), in agreement with theunitary European umbrella association of all industry-specific professionalpsychologists' associations (EFPA).

In short, the competences associated with therole are 6 primary competences (typical of a psychologist), in turn split upinto a total of 20 specific competences and 8 enabling competences (shared withother professionals).
CARRER OPPORTUNITIES: (S)he works with completeprofessional autonomy in different operational contexts: - companies and publicand private enterprises in personnel services or Human resources, in planningServices, in Protection and prevention Services, etc.;- companies providingservices (including Local Health Units, Hospitals, School Institutions,Vocational training system, public and private work services, Publicadministrations, etc.);- consultancy firms who offer recruitment services,occupational placement, training, human resource development assistance,professional guidance, outplacement, organisational analysis, ergonomicplanning, occupational safety and prevention, marketing, communication andadvertising activities, etc.;- volunteers associations and social cooperatives.
