B4920 - SEMINARS DESIGN (GR.A)

Academic Year 2026/2027

  • Teaching Mode: In-person learning (entirely or partially)
  • Campus: Rimini
  • Corso: Second cycle degree programme (LM) in Fashion Studies (cod. 6780)

Learning outcomes

At the end of the Seminar the student will have acquired specific skills relating to the field of design cultures, with a particular focus on the communication and representation of fashion products.

Course contents

The course aims to teach participants a creative process finalized at the production process.

The first theoretical lessons will introduce the basics of pattern making and tailoring and industrial sewing.

Subsequent lessons will put what they have learned into practice, and students will be able to create a prototype starting from an idea developed on a mood board.

Students with SLD or temporary or permanent disabilities. It is suggested that they get in touch as soon as possible with the relevant University office (https://site.unibo.it/ studenti-con-disabilita-e-dsa/ en [https://site.unibo.it/studenti-con-disabilita-e-dsa/en] ) and with the lecturer in order to seek together the most effective strategies for following the lessons and/or preparing for the examination.

Teaching methods

Lessons will alternate between theoretical lectures and practical technical sessions using sewing machines. The hands-on laboratory approach is the cornerstone of this course: through 'learning by doing,' students translate theory into manual skills, experiencing the production cycle of a garment firsthand. The classroom is transformed into a fashion atelier, where active learning fosters a deep technical awareness, enabling students to transition seamlessly from the conceptual phase of moodboard development to the concrete creation of a prototype.

Assessment methods

Assessment is based on attendance, consistent engagement throughout the workshop, participation in individual and group exercises, and completion of the required laboratory activities. In order to obtain the pass mark and the related credits, students are required to attend at least 80% of the scheduled hours, corresponding to 24 out of 30 hours, and to participate actively and continuously in the planned activities.
Students with SLD or temporary or permanent disabilities. It is necessary to contact the relevant University office ( https://site.unibo.it/ studenti-con-disabilita-e-dsa/ en [https://site.unibo.it/studenti-con-disabilita-e-dsa/en] ) with ample time in advance: the office will propose some adjustments, which must in any case be submitted 15 days in advance to the lecturer, who will assess the appropriateness of these in relation to the teaching objectives.

Teaching tools

During the lessons, handouts relating to the theoretical and practical lessons will be produced.
