Learning outcomes
By the end of the laboratory, students will be familiar with the main types of Punic pottery; will have acquired the methodological and critical tools needed to contextualize the artifacts within their regional context; will be able to properly document the pottery; and will be familiar with the relevant bibliography.
Course contents
The laboratory will consist of lectures and practical activities, some of which will be completed autonomously by the student.
The following topics will be covered during the lectures:
- the archaeology of ceramic production;
- theoretical aspects of typological classification;
- the origins and development of studies on Punic ceramics;
the main “ceramic regions”; - forms and types of Punic pottery
- chronological and functional aspects; contexts of discovery;
- reference bibliography.
The practical activities will focus on:
- thematic group research projects involving the creation of a PowerPoint presentation and the presentation of results in a conference-style format;
- archaeological drawing of pottery using manual techniques and a Laser-Aided Profiler;
- computer-aided graphic processing of the documentation.

Priority will be given to those who, at the time of registration, have already passed the exam or attended the classes on Phoenician-Punic Archaeology.

The recommended reading list will be provided during the lectures.
Teaching methods
The workshop includes introductory lectures and practical exercises.
Assessment methods
The laboratory does not provide a final test.
Attendance at lessons is mandatory. At the end of the course, a certificate of attendance will be issued to document the earned credits.
Teaching tools
The course will include the use of PowerPoint presentations and tools for the graphical drawing of archaeological ceramics.
