Learning outcomes
At the end of the module, the student possesses knowledge of the main diseases of the visual system in both developmental and adult age; knows the ocular alterations during systemic and craniofacial diseases; knows ocular semiology and its implications in the diagnosis and treatment of ocular, ENT, odontostomatological, neurological and internal diseases.
Course contents
Anatomo-physiology of the visual system. Pathophysiology of binocular vision. The red eye, pathology of the ocular adnexa. Corneal diseases, cataracts, open-angle and acute angle closure glaucoma. Vitreoretinal diseases. Strabismus and amblyopia. Pathology of the optic nerve. Pathophysiology of the pupil

Frontal lessons (8 hours)
Assessment methods
Multiple choice quiz assignment. The correct answers must be at least 5 to pass the Visual Diseases exam. The grade for Diseases of the Visual System is added to that of Otolaryngology, Audiology and Odontostomatological Diseases to compose the final grade of the Integrated Course "Sense Organs". The time available for the entire Sense Organs exam (31 quizzes in total) is 30 minutes. Regarding the verification of learning, the use of AI is prohibited. Any use constitutes a violation of academic integrity.
