Learning outcomes

Upon completion of the laboratory, students will be able to:

• apply the knowledge and competences acquired in the integrated course within a simulated learning environment;
• critically reflect, in collaboration with peers, on the issues explored during the laboratory.

Course contents

Laboratory description

The laboratory aims to develop emotional and cultural decentering competences, fostering educators' ability to recognize and suspend their own interpretative frameworks, understand others' perspectives and lived experiences, and approach cultural and experiential differences with a reflective and non-judgmental attitude.

Through the analysis of research data, the recall of educational experiences, case discussions, perspective-taking techniques, and guided reflection on participants' own emotional and cultural responses, the laboratory seeks to promote greater self-awareness and awareness of relational dynamics, thereby strengthening the ability to build effective educational relationships in highly diverse settings.

Particular attention will be devoted to the initial welcoming phase of both Italian and migrant families, as well as to the settling-in process of young children in early childhood education and care settings.

Students will be required to produce a written report analysing a specific case in a multicultural educational context.
